When electric vehicles make dollars and sense for fleets

Torque News -- FleetAnswers has discovered a combination of uncertain fuel prices, regulations, and reduced operating costs resulting from the smart application of electric vehicles suggests promising returns for certain firms.

These conclusions were arrived at following a webinar session organized by FleetAnswers and The Electrification Coalition. During the session, representatives of FedEx Express, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and Dow Kokam shared ways electrification has made economic sense for their companies. We love our Leaf. The haters of EVs, the US government, EPA, and The President are the same individuals.

Good Show - let the MBAs chew on the numbers and decide for electric if it will make a profit for the company and not based on a virtuous warm and fuzzy feeling.

If batteries become lighter, last longer, and are cheaper plus electric motors are probably cheaper to maintain EV fleets will save corporations big $$$$$$$.

EVs make sense for short routes. But I don't see it being used at night for the long-hauls.

With the stop and go lifestyle of the vehicles, this is certainly an energy saver. Don't forget fleet pricing too. They're saving a boat load of money now and literally down the road.

When they make one that has a 400 mile range without sacrificing trunk space I might consider one.

Until gasoline and diesel prices get high enough, electric cars and trucks will remain a hard-sell. But don't worry, just vote for Obama. We can get there sooner than you think!!!

Great a story about failed electric cars just after we read a refinery is being challenged in court. This will be much worst if Obama is re-elected. He will keep the gas prices us and back more electric cars. But will shut down the clean coal plants that provide cheap power for the electricity we use. A loser any way you look at it!!!!!!!!!!!!
